Gift Fund Management

The Community Foundation of South Alabama recognizes the stewardship of the assets entrusted to us as one of our most important responsibilities. The trust of our donors is based upon our ability to invest these resources prudently and to use the income produced in accordance with our donor’s charitable wishes, today and in the future.

Through our Investment Policy, the Foundation seeks to maintain or increase the real value of endowment principal and grant distributions. All the funds established at The Community Foundation of South Alabama are managed according to the Investment Policy approved by the Board of Directors. A volunteer Investment Committee of qualified financial professionals oversees the investment policies and selects the investment managers. The Investment Committee also monitors asset allocations, risk parameters, diversification and performance.

The Community Foundation maintains well-diversified portfolios which are invested for return. Using this approach, the Board of Directors of The Community Foundation can establish an amount available for spending each year based on a defined percentage of the asset base.
